The wellness process encompasses the biological, psychological, social
, and spiritual aspects of person-in-environment functioning. The auth
ors offer a definition of wellness and describe a practice perspective
centered on wellness theory. Wellness theory is discussed and evaluat
ed according to the Practitioner's Evaluative Framework proposed by Di
xon and colleagues. Practice interventions are discussed in relation t
o working with people who have long-term disabilities or chronic medic
al problems. Implications for social work education and future researc
h are presented.
