Abstract
A new transition of PCl in the vacuum uv near 130.0 nm has been observ ed in absorption. The identity of the carrier and the vibrational assi gnment of the observed bands are confirmed by the isotopic effect due to chlorine isotopomers. A predissociation in the upper state is obser ved from which an upper limit of the dissociation energy of the ground state of PCl is set at 18 968 cm(-1).
