Abstract
A system of computer simulation programs was developed for the calcula tion of transient EHD analyses of connecting rods. Two different model s for the calculation of the elastic deformations are compared: full d ynamic deformations and quasi static deformations. For the quasi stati c analyses fixed displacement boundary conditions have to be applied, whereas for the full dynamic simulation no displacement boundary condi tions are necessary. The presented results show, that the choice of bo undary conditions and distributed mass effects strongly influence glob al and local deformations and lead to the conclusion, that the full dy namic solution should be used for connecting rod analyses.
