The results of the synchronization of two ferromagnetic resonance sign
als are presented. In the experiment, a thin yttrium iron garnet (YIG)
film was placed in the perpendicular resonance configuration and the
bias field, rf power, and frequency were chosen so that the rf absorpt
ion of the YIG sample was chaotic. A segment of this chaotic signal wa
s stored into memory. The goal was to induce the sample to synchronize
to its prerecorded output through a perturbation applied to a system
parameter. The results of these synchronization experiments were predi
cted by a numerical model. (C) 1996 American Institute of Physics.
