Ha. Leupold et al., IMPOSITION OF PERIODIC MAGNETIZATION PATTERNS ON HIGH-ENERGY-PRODUCT MAGNETIC PLATES, Journal of applied physics, 79(8), 1996, pp. 5551-5553
Periodically magnetized permanent magnet plates with high-energy produ
cts are potentially very useful in high-field structures such as free-
electron lasers, electrical machinery, and various mechanical applicat
ions such as magnetic bearings, for which they are already being used.
A major problem is the lack of field sources with sufficient held amp
litude to impose such patterns of magnetization on high-coercivity mat
erials. This paper shows how such high amplitudes can be obtained for
several patterns by use of modified sources of the augmented ''magic r
ing'' and ''magic sphere'' types.
