Abstract
In forensic serology the HLA-DQ alpha system is being used increasingl y for studies of stain as well as in paternity cases. In the future st udies of paternity and kinship on ancient skeletal remains will consti tute an additional field of examination in forensic anthropology and i n archeology. Such applications require wide-ranging surveys on the ge ne frequencies in specific populations. For this study we compared 57 samples on the HLA-DQ alpha locus. Two studies conducted by us could b e pooled with two other German samples. All the samples combined repre sent a collection of 2022 genomes. German gene frequencies which were found are 0.137 (1.1), 0.217 (1.2), 0.062 (1.3), 0.117 (2), 0.155 (3), and 0.312 (4). Comparing European, American, Asian, and Australian da ta we found different groups of genetically related populations.
