Abstract
The effect of the starting pH of two media (a sterile meat extract and tryptone soy broth yeast extract) on the growth and production of exo toxins and exoenzymes by an Aeromonas hydrophila strain at low tempera ture was investigated. The results showed that the strain grew readily in the two media within a wide range of starting pHs at 5-degrees-C. Optimal growth as well as optimal production of exotoxins and exoenzym es were found to require slightly alkaline initial pH of the medium. T he range of known biological properties of Aeromonas exotoxins and exo enzymes has been extended.
