B. Akdim, THE SANDSTONE GEOMORPHIC ASPECTS IN SOUTHERN MOROCCO (DADES VALLEY, OUARZAZATE) - WEATHERING AND MORPHOTECTONIC EFFECTS, Zeitschrift fur Geomorphologie, 40(1), 1996, pp. 85-95
In the same semi-arid climate of the southern flank of the High Atlas
(Morocco), the sandstone seems to behave differently from site to site
depending on its tectonic evolution. Its diverse geomorphic aspects o
bserved in the region of Boumalne (Ouarzazate) have been investigated
as to apprehend the genetic factors and processes involved. A sediment
ologic and geomorphologic comparison have been conducted between the s
andstone in Tamlalt (TLT) and the sandstone in Akka-N-Ouss (ANO). The
results have shown similar sedimentological characteristics in both sa
ndstones but different geomorphic landforms were developped. The advan
ced tectonics in Tamlalt is consequently considered the main different
iating factor in this area.
