Abstract
The present study is the first prehistoric charcoal analysis ever carr ied out in the Canary Islands. The resuls have been obtained for six s ignificant species from various vegetation strata, of the Tenerife Isl and. These species were selected among the 88 taxa of the reference co llection. Also described are the characteristics of the strata, the ar cheological sites investigated, the aims of our work and the methodolo gy chosen.
