Abstract
The magnetic susceptibility measurements have been performed on xMnO . (1-x)[Bi2O3 . PbO] glasses with 0 < x less than or equal to 20 mol%. F or these glasses the reciprocal magnetic susceptibility follows a Curi e-type behaviour. From Curie constant values and EPR measurements we h ave established that in these glasses only Mn3+ ions are present. The Mn3+ ions are magnetically isolated, do not form crystalline precipita tes and seem to be randomly distributed in the Bi2O3 . PbO matrix.
