S. Mohammad et Sm. Austin, HEMOPERICARDIUM WITH CARDIAC-TAMPONADE AFTER INTRAVENOUS THROMBOLYSISFOR ACUTE MYOCARDIAL-INFARCTION, Clinical cardiology, 19(5), 1996, pp. 432-434
This report presents 2 patients with hemopericardium and tamponade enc
ountered among a group of 26 patients who had received intravenous thr
ombolytic therapy for acute myocardial infarction during an 8-month ti
me span. Both responded promptly to pericardiocentesis and pericardial
catheter drainage. It is suggested that this rarely reported complica
tion has the potential of occurring more frequently with increasing us
e of thrombolytics followed by aggressive anticoagulant regimens.
