In accordence with the reaction mechanism that the reaction of n-dodec
yl alcohol ethylene oxide(EO) is catalyzed by the strong base, the opt
imum reaction time expression of the relatively highest product contai
ning at the given polymer number oi EO is obtained by the Laplace tran
sform, Our expression was compared with Weibull's and Flory's ones und
er certain conditions, and the relationship between the optimum reacti
on time and the average polymer number of EO is discussed. As an examp
le, the conclusion is also proved with the result that lauryl alcohol
reacts with EO under different catalytic conditions.
