Examples are shown and discussed which indicate that published tempera
ture maps derived using SXT intensity ratio technique may be substanti
ally biased if standard image processing routines are used to coalign
the images. Methods are discussed which allow for independent of the Y
ohkoh satellite pointing information, precise (0.12 arcsec), alignment
of images obtained in selected energy bands (filters). Examples are p
resented illustrating the differences in the temperature maps derived
using standard and additional pointing correction (APC).
