The synthesis of Cu(II) and Ni(II) ternary complexes with N-(2-acetami
do)iminodiacetate (ADA(2-)) and dicarboxylic amino acids is described.
Characterization of the so obtained complexes was accomplished by ele
mental analyses, thermal decomposition, electronic and IR spectroscopy
as well as conductivity measurements. The primary ligand (ADA(2-)) is
coordinated to the metal ion in a divalent, tridentate manner, wherea
s the dicarboxylic amino acids act as monovalent, bidentate ligands. T
he complexes all have a metal to ligands ratio of 1:1:1 and are sugges
ted to have an octahedral structure for the Ni(II) complexes and a tet
ragonally distorted structure for the Cu(II) complexes.
