Abstract
Tetrakisarylporphyrins are conveniently chlorosulphonated in high yiel ds. These chlorosulphonyl compounds may be converted in high yield int o sulphonic acid derivatives through reaction with a variety of nucleo philes so as to give, for example, the free sulphonic acid, a sulphona mide or a sulphonate ester.
