Pr. Messenger et Sd. Golding, RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN DEVONIAN VOLCANIC AND PLUTONIC UNITS IN THE MT MORGAN AREA, CENTRAL QUEENSLAND, Australian journal of earth sciences, 43(1), 1996, pp. 97-101
The oldest rocks in the Mt Morgan area of central Queensland belong to
the lower subdivision of the Capella Creek beds. These beds span the
australis conodont zone of middle Eifelian age and were intruded by th
e Mt Morgan Tonalite, to which they are genetically related. Both the
Capella Creek beds and the Mt Morgan Tonalite were overlain unconforma
bly by the Dee Volcanics during the Frasnian (377-367 Ma). An unconfor
mity between the Mt Morgan Tonalite and the Dee Volcanics is exposed s
ome 750 m southwest of the Mt Morgan open cut.
