Abstract
The authors propose a new origin for the volcanic minerals located in the Seine valley and in its tributaries (the Loing and the Essonne). T he augite comes from the plateaux which have received widespread tephr a sheets. This third origin does not invalidate the other explanations for the presence of augite in the Seine basin.
