d clinical experiences. In a qualitative study, the value of student c
onfidence in nursing role performance, the impact of positive precepto
r-student relationships on confidence development, and specific strate
gies to enhance confidence in preceptored learning experiences are des
cribed. Preceptors described caring relationships including modeling,
dialogue, commitment, mutual respect, and acceptance, to illustrate th
e impact of such relationships on the development of student confidenc
e in nursing role performance.
