Following the cold winter of 1993-1994, ninety scab resistant apple cu
ltivars and selections were evaluated-for low temperature injury. Inju
ry symptoms ranged from slight dieback of the terminal branches to com
plete tree death. Twenty-seven cultivars or selections exhibited no te
rminal dieback injury. Eight exhibited injury, that was more severe th
an 'McIntosh', 'Empire' or 'Delicious'. Trees of Co-op 28 and O-666 we
re killed.
