Abstract
Geophysical data (bathymetry, gravity, magnetism and seismic reflectio n profiles) and rock samples, newly obtained South of Tasmania, provid e new information on the tectonic structure oi the South Tasman Rise. Changes in bathymetric grains, magnetic and gravity anomalies as well as seismic profiles suggest the presence of a major longitudinal featu re at 146 degrees E separating the plateau into two distinct domains. These findings suggest that the South Tasman Rise resulted from a coll age of two distinct fragments, during the dispersal of the eastern Gon dwana fragments.
