N. Rollet et al., THE SOUTH TASMAN RISE (SOUTH OF TASMANIA) - A COLLAGE OF 2 FRAGMENTS OF EASTERN GONDWANA, Comptes rendus de l'Academie des sciences. Serie II. Sciences de la terre et des planetes, 323(10), 1996, pp. 865-872
Geophysical data (bathymetry, gravity, magnetism and seismic reflectio
n profiles) and rock samples, newly obtained South of Tasmania, provid
e new information on the tectonic structure oi the South Tasman Rise.
Changes in bathymetric grains, magnetic and gravity anomalies as well
as seismic profiles suggest the presence of a major longitudinal featu
re at 146 degrees E separating the plateau into two distinct domains.
These findings suggest that the South Tasman Rise resulted from a coll
age of two distinct fragments, during the dispersal of the eastern Gon
dwana fragments.
