Abstract
A real time personal neutron dosemeter was developed on the basis of a PIPS diode with a CR-39-(LiF)-Li-6 converter. The detected particles are protons from neutron scattering on the CR-39 converter and alpha p articles as well as tritons from the Li-6(n,alpha)H-3 reaction. Backgr ound and gamma ray contributions were tested using a second equivalent PIPS diode without converter. The dosemeter characteristics were stud ied during irradiations in monoenergetic neutron beams at energies fro m 73 keV up to 14 MeV. The principal properties of the device such as the energy and angular response as well as the linearity were investig ated.
