Abstract
Total DNAs isolated from two Hansenula polymorpha (Pichia angusta) str ains having chromosomal single or tandem multiple integrations of a pU C18-derived expression plasmid produced Escherichia coli transformants which contained plasmids of different size and/or organization than t hat of the expression plasmid. Evidence that plasmid-like structures a re formed in H. polymorpha and that their formation is stimulated by D NA damage is presented in this study.
