Abstract
We have isolated and sequenced the ptbl gene from the fission yeast Sc hizosaccharomyces pombe. Sequence analysis suggests that Ptbl is the b eta subunit of the type-II geranylgeranyltransferase that is responsib le for geranylgeranylation of the Rab-like YPT proteins in this yeast. The sequence has been deposited in the EMBL data library under the Ac cession Number X92183.
