Abstract
Extraction of the dried root bark of the Western Australian plant Cono spermum stoechadis Endl. has yielded 3,6,7-trimethoxy-2-methylnaphthal ene-1,4-dione, stoechadone (1). The structure was elucidated by spectr oscopic methods and was confirmed by a short synthesis from methyl hom overatrate (3).
