INFRARED-SPECTRA OF AMINO-ACID AND PEPTIDE MONODERIVATIVES OF [60]FULLERENE AND THEIR METHYL-ESTERS

IR spectra (4000-400 cm(-1)) of [60]fullerene monoderivatives of amino acids and dipeptides and several of their methyl eaters have been fou nd to differ strongly from those of starting compounds, in that none o f them contained the characteristic modes of free C-60 but instead dis played several new absorptions which indicate the presence of amino ac id and peptide moieties in the [60]fullerene derivative molecules, the se fragments being in a zwitterion form in most cases.
