P. Cabanie et al., ANATOMOPATHOLOGIC ESTIMATION OF THE LOCAL TOLERANCE OF INTRAMUSCULARLY ADMINISTERED VETERINARY DRUGS, Recueil de medecine veterinaire, 171(12), 1995, pp. 819-826
Local tolerance of intramuscularly injected veterinary drugs is among
major concerns in the therapeutic decision for large animals: injectio
n-site blemishes represent an economic loss to the meat industry. Sinc
e a standard protocol is not available for intramuscular tolerance stu
dies, accurate assessment of veterinary drugs tolerance is difficult.
This article describes the inflammatory reaction at the injection site
and provides injection techniques and gross pathology and histopathol
ogy indices of tissue irritation.
