The possible emergence of a new technology-related way of life implied by the interest in cyberspace raises a variety of issues that demand social research. Understanding the social correlates of advanced techn ology involves investigating the several specific areas of research de scribed in this article, but it also means seeing how each specific ar ea relates to the broader sweep of possible cultural changes.
