Abstract
The new biimidazole, bis(1-methyl-4,5-diphenylimidaz-2-oyl)carbinol, B imOH, is synthesized and employed to form the novel tetrameric constel lation [Cu-4(BimOH)(2)(BimO)(2)](4+), involving an (N-im)(2)Cu-II(OR)( 2)Cu-II(N-im)(2) centre with a Cu-II...Cu-II separation of 2.998(4) An gstrom and two Cu-I(N-im)(2) moieties ca. 5 Angstrom from the Cu-2 cen tre, each with an N-Cu-N angle of 169.3(4)degrees.
