Abstract
We propose a model-independent method to determine the magnitude of th e Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element \V-ub\ from exclusive B and D decays. Combining information obtainable from <B --> rho l(nu)over bar (l)>, <B --> Knu(nu)over bar>, <D --> K*(l)over bar nu(l)>, a det ermination of \V-ub\ is possible, with an uncertainty from theory of a round 10%. Theoretical uncertainties in the <B --> Kl(l)over bar> dec ay rate are discussed.
