Jf. Mosnier et al., PLASMA-CELL VARIANT OF CASTLEMANS DISEASE LOCALIZED TO THE LIVER - A CASE-REPORT, European journal of gastroenterology & hepatology, 8(2), 1996, pp. 169-172
Localized plasma cell variant of Castleman's disease is an uncommon ly
mphoproliferative disorder. It is characterized by numerous, evenly di
stributed germinal centres with moderate or extensive sheets of plasma
cells in between. It may be associated with a wide variety of systemi
c manifestations that disappear after removal of the lesion. Rare case
s of Castleman's disease have been reported in extranodal locations, i
.e. muscle, larynx, vulva, lung, pericardium and cranium. We report th
e first case of a liver tumour with clinico-pathological features of t
he plasma cell variant of Castleman's disease. This tumour differs fro
m the hepatic inflammatory pseudotumour, which is frequently associate
d with infectious conditions.
