Abstract
The chemical nature of liquid-phase oxidation of sulfurous petroleum r esidues by cumene hydroperoxide was studied by a tracer technique. Sul fur compounds are selectively oxidized in the presence of catalytic ad ditives of molybdenum salts. Desulfurization of distillate products an d coke during coking of preoxidized raw materials was revealed.
