Abstract
Dispersion relations for nonlinear TE waves guided by a waveguide that has a buried secant hyperbolic profile in the film with a self-focusi ng nonlinear cover medium have been obtained rigorously. It is shown t hat for the same diffusion depth, the local maximum power flow for TE( 0) and TE(1) modes increases as the burying depth is increased.
