EVALUATION OF THE FULLY AUTOMATED COBAS CORE ENZYME-IMMUNOASSAY FOR THE QUANTITATION OF ANTIBODIES AGAINST HEPATITIS-B VIRUS SURFACE-ANTIGEN

The Roche Cobas Core automated enzyme immunoassay of antibodies agains t hepatitis B virus surface antigen (anti-HBs) was evaluated using a p rotocol complying with the Societe Francaise de Biologie Clinique guid elines. Results showed good precision (CV below 6 and 9% for intra- an d inter-assay precision) and accuracy (according to the Paul-Ehrlich-I nstitute standard); the detection limit of the test was 2 IU/l. The ma nufacturer's specifications were confirmed and a satisfactory correlat ion (r = 0.901) was found with an automated method (IMx, Abbott) used for comparison.
