Abstract
The Mersey Region Trauma Survey was performed oner 12 months in 1989 a nd 1990 to study the epidemiology of trauma in a population of 3 200 0 00. All deaths from injuries, and all survivors with an injury severit y score of 15 or over were included, giving a total of 1088 cases. Thi s paper, primarily epidemiological, considers those victims with a pel vic fracture (153 patients), and especially those who reached hospital alive (111 patients). The epidemiology, hospital care and mortality a re considered, hut the specific management of individual fractures is not. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd.
