B. Cormier et al., VALUE OF MULTIPLANE TRANSESOPHAGEAL ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY IN DETERMINING AORTIC-VALVE AREA IN AORTIC-STENOSIS, The American journal of cardiology, 77(10), 1996, pp. 882
Aortic valve area determination by transesophageal planimetry and by t
he continuity equation was compared with hemodynamic measurements in 4
5 patients with symptomatic aortic stenosis. The correlations between
transesophageal echocardiography and hemodynamics were dependent on th
e amount of valvular calcium, whereas the continuity equation correlat
ed well with hemodynamics in all patients.
