BARRIERS TO ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN-VEHICLE DESIGN

This paper reviews the factors undermining a stabilization in vehicula r emissions of CO2 in line with commitments made at the Rio Conference , 1992. Despite effective technologies to reduce such emissions, resis tance to more fuel-efficient cars from manufacturers and consumers com bined with increased usage means that no progress has been made as yet .
