The reaction of mercury(II) halides with imidazolidine-2-thione, 1,3-d
iazinane-2-thione and 1,3-diazepine-2-thione yielded complexes of stoi
chiometry HgL(2)Cl(2) and HgL(2)Br(2). The C(2) resonance of all thion
e ligands shifted more for HgBr2 complexes compared with HgCl2. The Hg
-199 NMR chemical shift range is within -805 to -1008 ppm for HgL(2)Cl
(2) complexes and -1124 to -1394 ppm for all HgL(2)Br(2) complexes. Al
so C-13 and Hg-199 NMR chemical shifts are compared for five-, six- an
d seven-membered ligands after complexing with mercuric halides. Copyr
