Target residues from the interaction of copper with 20-46 MeV/nucleon
C-12 ions have been studied using the thick-target, thick-catcher reco
il technique. From the experimental data the excitation functions, iso
baric yield distributions, mass yield distributions, linear momentum t
ransfer and excitation energy were deduced. The experimental mass yiel
d distributions can be reproduced by the GEMINI code for statistical b
inary decay, following a calculation with the fireball model. The line
ar momentum transfer per projectile nucleon in central collision attai
ns a maximum value of 155 MeV/c at 27.5 MeV/nucleon. At the same proje
ctile energy the excitation energy of the composite system produced fr
om these central collisions is between 2.5-3 MeV/nucleon. The experime
ntal results have been compared with those given in previous publicati
ons.
