Vy. Bychenkov et Vt. Tikhonchuk, MAGNETIC-FIELD GENERATION BY SHORT ULTRAINTENSE LASER-PULSE IN UNDERDENSE PLASMAS, Laser and particle beams, 14(1), 1996, pp. 55-62
The theory of magnetic field generation due to the interaction of shor
t relativistic laser pulses with underdense plasmas has been developed
. The magnetic field is generated due to the inverse Faraday effect oc
curring with a circularly polarized laser pulse. The spatial distribut
ion of the magnetic field is investigated. It is shown that the magnet
ic field magnitude depends on the relationship between the laser beam
radius and the plasma skin-depth.
