Abstract
We have scattered single photons from interfering de Broglie matter wa ves in an atom interferometer and observed the gradual loss of single particle coherence that is directly related to the spatial separation of the de Broglie waves. Furthermore, we have demonstrated that fringe visibility can be recovered by selecting only a subset of atoms that are correlated with photons emitted into a limited angular range.
