Abstract
We have studied the isotope-shift exponent (alpha) within the polaroni c theory of superconductivity as functions of electron-phonon coupling and carrier concentration. alpha is found to be consistently negative for all concentrations and electron-phonon couplings in contrast to e xperimental reports. Increasing Coulomb repulsion or use of a singular density of states pushes alpha to more negative values.
