Ob. Simonova et al., DIFFERENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TEMPE RATURE-SENSITIVE PERIOD OF THE LAWC(P1) MUTATION ON THE BASIS OF MACROCHAETAE OVEREXPRESSION IN DROSOPHILA, Genetika, 32(3), 1996, pp. 445-447
Temperature-sensitive periods (TSPs) of lawc(p1) mutations were studie
d via the frequencies of arising of extras macrochaetae for each macro
chaeta type separately. TSPs for the formation of extras macrochaetae
of original classes were unevenly distributed within larval instars It
and m. It was found that macrochaetae of different types differed fro
m one another in their temperature sensitivity. The TSP of development
of macrochaetae belonging to new ectopic classes was multiphase, with
the first phase at larval instar II, and the second phase, at the pre
pupal to early pupal stage. It is assumed that in Drosophila, the prod
ucts of the lawc gene participate, along with other genes, in the deve
lopment of the nervous system through regulation of ac-sc expression,
both in proneural clusters and outside them.
