The study by NMR of thoracic end abdominal viscera was realized on 4 c
ynomolgus monkeys (Macaca fascicularis). The importance of experimenta
tion on these primates can justify, considering the high quality image
s, the use of this imaging technique particularly during studies cente
red on the heart, liver, kidneys and pelvic organs. Moreover, the simi
litude between cynomolgus and newborn's height and anatomy lets envisa
ge the use of this species as an animal model in order to improve the
NMR technique in pediatry.
