SYNTHESIS OF SUBSTITUTED 2-NAPHTHYLCHROMONES

The synthesis of five (alpha and beta)2-naphthylchromones, with isolat ion of the intermediates, both o-hydroxybenzoyl naphthoyl methanes and o-acetylphenyl naphthoates, is reported. Eight compounds of the 15 pr epared are novel. The esters were obtained in excellent yields under m ild reaction conditions, the diones and target compounds in good yield s. The H-1-NMR spectra of 13 of them and all C-13-NMR were recorded fo r the first time.
