P. Jansen et Bg. Soares, EFFECT OF COMPATIBILIZER AND CURING SYSTEM ON THE THERMAL-DEGRADATIONOF NATURAL-RUBBER EVA COPOLYMER BLENDS, Polymer degradation and stability, 52(1), 1996, pp. 95-99
The effect of blend ratio and the compatibilization/curing process on
the thermal ageing of natural rubber (NR)/ethylene-vinyl acetate copol
ymer (EVA) blends have been investigated. Poly(ethylene-co-vinyl alcoh
ol-co-vinyl mercaptoacetate) (EVASH) was employed as compatibilizing a
gent and dicumyl peroxide (DCP) as curing agent. The resistance to the
rmal ageing is better for those blends containing EVASH. The efficienc
y of EVASH as a stabilizer for rubber degradation is also indicated by
thermogravimetric analysis and by the determination of the molecular
weight of the rubber phase after processing and ageing. (C) 1996 Publi
