Abstract
About three quarters of the rat total liver nuclear oxalate binding ac tivity is distributed in the nuclear membrane with a specific activity of 14.6 pmoles mg(-1) protein. Elution of Triton-X100 solubilised nuc lear membrane on Sephadex-G200 column yielded a protein containing bou nd [C-14]- oxalate with an approximate molecular weight of 68,000 Da. Although chromatin showed very little oxalate binding activity, isolat ed histones exhibited the highest specific activity (20 pmoles m(-1) p rotein).
