The limit state analysis is proposed in this paper. The analysis takes
into consideration two types of dome namely, spherical and elliptical
, which am generally associated with the barrel wall. Constitutive equ
ations are developed in which a provision is made for tendon geometry,
loads and losses due to prestressing tendons. Stresses are computed f
or the domes and the barrel wall using a specially developed program (
HAYA). A separate analysis is carried out for the discontinuity at the
base of the barrel wall. Boundary conditions are adjusted so as to cr
eate flexibility for the dome and wall to interact. The analysis is ap
plied to both Sizewell B and Bellefonte vessels. Only Bellefonte vesse
l results are reported.
