Abstract
Results of photographic BV photometry performed for the southern globu lar cluster NGC 3201 are presented. New estimates of the cluster metal licity have been obtained from the position of the peak in the luminos ity function of the red-giant branch (RGB) and by fitting a theoretica l isochrone to the RGB. Accurate equatorial coordinates have been dete rmined for the cluster variable stars.
