The distruption of high-temperature thermal equilibrium of large-scale
magnetic arcades in the solar atmosphere for which the plasma density
decreases significantly with height is considered. It is shown that f
or low intensities of plasma heating by the waves coming from below, t
he drop in density may result in the distruption of high-temperature t
hermal equilibrium in very tall arches whose lengths and heights are m
uch greater than the scale height of the atmosphere.
