T. Susini et al., URETERAL OBSTRUCTION DUE TO RETROPERITONEAL ENDOMETRIOSIS - A CONSERVATIVE APPROACH INCLUDING SURGERY AND GNRH ANALOGS, Gynecological endocrinology, 10(2), 1996, pp. 129-131
Ureteral obstruction due to endometriosis is an infrequent condition w
hich can be asymptomatic for a long time. Irreversible loss of renal f
unction may result in cases with delayed diagnosis. Our report concern
s a case of unilateral hydronephrosis and hypertension due to retroper
itoneal endometriosis occurring in a 24-year-old woman. The management
of patients bearing obstructive uropathy caused by endometriosis is d
iscussed. In the present case, a conservative operation followed by me
dical treatment, including GnRH analogs, was used to preserve reproduc
tive capacity.
